Instead of a list of rules, each section develops it's own Guiding Statement for the year. This statement is built over the first several weeks through multiple class discissions that challenge students to consider the following questions, one at a time: What are the characteristics of a successful art class? What makes you feel comfortable and safe? What does a supportive community of artists look like? The Guiding Statement is written as a group and summarizes the ideas generated from these discussions. Statements are then printed and signed by the entire class. See below!
7A Guiding Statement:
Set an example of what Bosque is. Be a community and help one another. Respect others, their work and the supplies (the art ecosystem). Treat others the way you want to be treated. Look at the glass as half-full; never look on the negative side.
7B Guiding Statement:
We will care for one another, respect each other’s space, and be kind to one another. We will keep noise to a medium volume. We will respect the teacher, ourselves, our fellow classmates and the classroom. We will try our best and do our best. We will be happy and have fun.
